The Social Media Manager is responsible for helping to lead West Ham United’s social media presence across all platforms, driving growth, engagement and innovation that reflects the identity, values, and ambitions of the Club.
This role will be responsible for day-to-day content planning, publishing, and performance optimisation, while contributing to long-term digital strategy that strengthens fan connection locally and worldwide. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller, a football enthusiast, and an organised leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Contribute to and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Club objectives, brand voice and fan engagement goals.
- Lead the planning, scheduling and publishing of content across all Club channels, including Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat and WhatsApp Channels.
- Capture and produce high-quality video and photo content for use across all social platforms.
- Create social-first content, including player-led features, behind-the-scenes access, matchday content and fan-focused storytelling.

✂️Edit short and long-form video content, applying platform best practices, audience insights and emerging trends.
- Support the ideation, development and execution of creative concepts across social media campaigns and content.
- Work alongside in-house and external creatives, videographers, designers and photographers to deliver content that meets Club brand and creative standards.
- Coordinate with marketing, communications, retail and partnerships teams to ensure aligned messaging and integrated campaign delivery.
- ️Lead matchday social output, including content capture, live updates, live clips and fan-focused storytelling across Men’s, Women’s and Academy fixtures.
- Maintain platform best practices and adapt content for each channel’s audience, format and algorithm.
- Identify emerging platform trends, technologies and content opportunities, proactively recommending new approaches.
- Monitor and analyse content performance using platform analytics and reporting tools, sharing insights to optimise future content and campaigns.

About You
We're looking for someone who brings:
- Proven experience managing large-scale social media channels, ideally in sport, entertainment, or major brands.
- Demonstrable experience producing high-quality content on short deadlines.
- A proven track record creating engaging, audience-first content.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
- Experience working with elite athletes, coaches or high-profile talent.
- Proficient with social media analytics tools.

- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of fan engagement, audience segmentation and emerging digital trends.
- ️ The ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure live publishing environments.
Working Pattern
- Standard hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, 4 days a week onsite.
- Flexibility is essential around fixtures, events and key Club activity.
- ️Regular matchday attendance is required, including Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday fixtures, depending on the football calendar and broadcast schedules.
