Purchase Ledger Manager

Job Title: Purchase Ledger Manager
Location: Padiham, Lancashire
Company: What More UK Limited
Reporting To: Group Financial Accountant
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

What More UK Limited is a successful and growing British manufacturer of high-quality plastic injection moulded and pressed metal housewares. Based at our modern manufacturing facility in Padiham, Lancashire, we supply major retailers and distributors throughout the UK and overseas.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Purchase Ledger Manager to lead our purchase ledger function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, payments and reconciliations while managing a small team and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the effective management of the Purchase Ledger department and will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the company's accounts payable processes.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operation of the purchase ledger function.
Ensure supplier invoices are processed accurately and efficiently.
Oversee invoice matching and approval processes.
Manage supplier statement reconciliations and resolve account queries.
Prepare and oversee weekly and monthly payment runs.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
Ensure compliance with company financial controls and procedures.
Support month-end and year-end finance activities.
Assist with process improvements and system developments.
Produce purchase ledger reports and analysis as required by management.
Ensure accurate maintenance of supplier records and master data.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

Essential

Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger.
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and controls.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Good communication and relationship-building skills.
Proficient Microsoft Excel skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Desirable

Experience within a manufacturing environment.
AAT qualification or equivalent.
Experience with Sage 200.
Continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving.
