About us

Student and Registry Services is one of the larger Professional Services divisions at UCL, providing essential services to UCL’s 50,000 students, 160,000 applicants and for supporting academic departments and administrative staff in delivering a high-quality student experience.

UCL’s Education Services is part of Student and Registry Services and is responsible for providing a range of services that centre around UCL’s education and student experience policy framework. Education Services plays a key role in ensuring that our regulation, policy, and student engagement framework support the delivery of UCL’s education strategy and our compliance with Office for Students ‘B conditions’.

The Student Success Office leads on the development and implementation of UCL’s strategies to support academic success and close awarding and attainment gaps across UCL. The team works in conjunction with HEDS (Arena), the Academic Communication Centre, VP (Education and Student Experience) Office and faculties and departments, developing best practice and evidence-based approaches. The Student Success Office leads on developing institution-wide approaches to close awarding and experience gaps. We take an evidence-led approach to access with a strong focus on evaluation and research.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a Senior Student Success Officer to join our team. The successful applicants will play a key role in carrying out aspects of UCL’s student success strategies and advancing aspects of the UCL Access and Participation Plan.

Developing and implementing evidence-led approaches and interventions to close the experience, retention, and awarding gaps at UCL. Working with the Data and Impact team to evaluate the impact of projects and ensure an evidence-led approach and collating and analysing data and writing reports.

In addition the postholder will develop institutional policies, programmes and resources to support retention and attainment for key groups, with a key focus on the Access UCL (contextual offer) cohort. Management of budgets for associated activity. Ensuring effective communication with line manager regarding work in progress.

This is a fixed-term role that will run until the 20 November 2026.

About you

Qualifications commensurate with education to A Level or equivalent, including proficiency in English and Mathematics

Familiarity with, and an understanding of, higher education widening participation and student success strategies

A good understanding of the UK HE sector

Experience of developing and delivering new initiatives, particularly programmes and events

Experience of analysing data

Experience of writing papers for a variety of audiences

Experience of working on a project with multiple stakeholders

Administrative experience gained in a people-focused environment
