Full job description

G J Smith Roofing Ltd is an established Dunstable-based roofing company with more than 30 years’ experience. We provide roofing repairs, maintenance and complete roof installations for domestic and commercial customers across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

We are proud winners of Checkatrade’s National Roofer of the Year award and have built our reputation on reliability, quality workmanship and excellent customer service.

The Role - Fixed Term Contract (initially 1 year)

We are looking for an experienced, confident and highly organised Senior Office Administrator on a Fixed Term Contract, to work closely alongside our Office Manager.

This is not an entry-level administrative role. The successful applicant will need the confidence and initiative to manage competing priorities, communicate professionally with customers and suppliers, and help coordinate the day-to-day administration of a busy roofing company.

Key Responsibilities

· Ordering roofing materials, scaffolding, skips and general supplies

· Liaising with suppliers, contractors, customers and the roofing team

· Emailing quotes prepared by the estimating team

· Responding to incoming calls, emails and customer enquiries

· Booking roofing works, appointments and deliveries

· Updating job records and maintaining accurate information

· Monitoring orders, deliveries and scheduled works

· Supporting the coordination of multiple live jobs

· Following up outstanding information, quotes and customer queries

· Preparing and maintaining general office documentation

· Supporting the Office Manager with day-to-day administration

· Identifying and resolving routine issues before they affect scheduled work

· Providing additional administrative support as required

Construction Experience

Previous construction, roofing or trade-office experience would be beneficial, but it is not essential. We also welcome applications from experienced administrators who are commercially aware, quick to learn and confident working in a fast-moving environment.
