Barton Moss Secure Care Centre ‘A truly exceptional place to work’

1 Fixed term post for 12 months
1 Permanent post

Salary: Grade 2B plus Secure Unit allowance

We are a 24 bed Secure Care Centre which is made up of 4 residential units. We care for sentenced and remanded males under the age of 18 years and are part of the national Secure Children’s Home network.

The Centre has a proven track record of offering a very high standard of emotional, educational and physical care. This supports young people to succeed in their personal and academic development and resettlement back into the community. The centre has achieved Good & Outstanding, Ofsted judgements.

Who we are seeking

A self-motivated, reliable, and proactive Admin Officer to join our team within a secure children’s home. The ideal candidate will be multi-skilled, highly organised, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced and sensitive environment. You will play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the service, demonstrating professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a varied workload. A flexible and positive approach is essential, along with strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of confidentiality and care.

About the Role

This role will be an integral part of the administration service
Ensuring an effective and efficient administration support to internal and external customers
Assist and support office manager and service manager to standardise systems, process and practices in response to changes
Work closely with practitioners and support staff from council and other organisations and actively support integrated ways of working.
To record and maintain client information systems and validate all information before it is entered onto Salford Council Information systems
Provide comprehensive minutes at meetings
Provide support to type a range of documents to an excellent standard

Key Outcomes

You will support the service area business processes that contribute to the work of the service, third party and partner organisations
You will record and maintain client information systems and validate all information before entering onto Salford city council’s information systems.
You will liaise appropriately and effectively with officers from other service areas where business processes interrelate
You will respond efficiently and courteously to telephone enquiries, ensuring the information conveyed is accurate, callers signposted to other service areas where appropriate, or accurate messages taken in the absence of officers from the service
You will undertake such additional duties as are reasonably commensurable with the level of the post
You will provide typing, minute taking and photocopying support within specific service areas to a good standard

You will accurately maintain, organise and action work emanating from the Council’s document system and client databases used by the service, third parties and partner organisations.
You will treat all information in accordance with Salford City Council’s policies on confidentiality and Data Protection

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month.
