Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a keen eye for food safety and quality. This role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food production, and maintaining high standards of hospitality. The Head Chef will play a pivotal role in creating innovative menus, supervising kitchen staff, and delivering outstanding dining experiences for our residents. Must be familiar with IDDSI levels and have previous nursing or residential home chef/ cook experience.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the entire kitchen team, including supervising staff to ensure efficient workflow and high standards of performance
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to maintain consistency, quality, and presentation
Develop and implement innovative menus that reflect residents preferences
Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all kitchen operations
Manage food inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling costs to optimise kitchen efficiency
Train and mentor kitchen staff to foster professional development and teamwork
Monitor kitchen equipment maintenance and cleanliness to uphold health standards
Maintain a positive work environment that encourages creativity, accountability, and excellence

Skills

Proven supervising experience within a busy care home environment
Extensive food production knowledge with expertise in various cooking techniques
Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate and lead staff effectively
Exceptional food preparation skills combined with a passion for culinary innovation
In-depth understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Previous care home experience demonstrating leadership in a fast-paced setting
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
Good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and suppliers
Hospitality background with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service
Ability to serve as a role model for professionalism, creativity, and dedication within the kitchen environment

Pay: Up to £14.95 per hour
