Southfield Way Surgery, 2a Southfield Way, Great Wyrley, WS6 6JZ

We are a single-handed village practice with approximately 3,500 patients. As well as our community patients, we service 5 nursing homes in the local area. The surgery states its mission is to provide professional, accessible, high-quality healthcare services that inspire confidence in patients and the local community, while aiming for the best possible patient outcomes in a safe and welcoming environment.

Job Overview

The role is the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, answering enquiries, processing requests, maintaining accurate records, and supporting clinicians. The role requires excellent communication, customer service, confidentiality, and organisational skills.

RFesponsibilities (not limited to:)

Act as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
Answer telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries promptly and professionally.
Book, amend, and cancel appointments using the clinical system.
Register new patients and update patient records accurately.
Process repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures.
Receive, distribute, and manage incoming correspondence, emails, and documents.
Manage referrals, recalls, test result queries, and administrative tasks.
Support clinicians with administrative duties and document management.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR and NHS policies.
Handle sensitive situations with empathy, discretion, and professionalism.
Process incoming and outgoing mail and electronic communications.
Assist with scanning, coding, and filing medical records.
Monitor waiting areas and provide excellent customer service to patients.
Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice and work collaboratively with the wider healthcare team.

Training

Training will be delivered through a combination of induction, on-the-job coaching, e-learning modules, and guidance from experienced members of the practice team and external providers.

Working week

24 hours per week - part time.

Monday to Friday (exact shifts agreed with successful candidate).

Pay: £7.55 per hour
