Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing their catering and food preparation skills within a professional setting. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring smooth kitchen operations, adhering to food safety standards, and assisting with meal service.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation and food assembly under the supervision of the head chef or kitchen manager
Support catering events by preparing ingredients and setting up serving areas
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment in accordance with food safety regulations
Help with basic cooking tasks, including chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients
Ensure proper storage of food items and organise stock levels to prevent waste
Support serving staff during meal service periods as needed
Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to ensure a safe working environment
Assist with washing dishes, cleaning kitchen appliances, and waste disposal

Skills

Experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to handle food preparation tasks efficiently and accurately
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Flexibility to adapt to busy periods and varied responsibilities within the kitchen environment
Previous experience in meal preparation or culinary roles is advantageous but not mandatory
