Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality meals and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent attention to detail, and a strong understanding of food safety standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in catering, cooking, and restaurant operations within a dynamic setting. The Kitchen Assistant will play a vital part in meal preparation, food safety compliance, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation and food presentation under the supervision of the head chef or kitchen manager
Support catering events by preparing ingredients and assembling dishes as required
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen areas, including work surfaces, utensils, and storage spaces
Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of ingredients
Serve food to customers or staff in accordance with hygiene and safety protocols
Help with basic cooking tasks such as chopping, peeling, and portioning ingredients
Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying management of supplies needed
Support the team during busy periods by performing additional duties as required to ensure efficient service

Experience

Previous experience in a catering or restaurant environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Familiarity with food preparation techniques and kitchen safety procedures is advantageous
Experience in meal preparation, food safety compliance, and serving is preferred but not mandatory
A strong interest in culinary arts and willingness to learn new skills within a professional kitchen setting is highly valued
