EXPERIENCED GRILL CHEF / COOK WANTED – KAIJAH LOUNGE

Kaijah Lounge is an exciting new Zimbabwean / Afro-Southern grill and cocktail lounge launching in Moston, Manchester. We combine bold Southern African flavours with Brazilian-style grilling and modern steakhouse techniques. We are now seeking a talented Chef/ cook to join our kitchen team.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Grill Chef, Chef de Partie, or ambitious Senior Chef/ Cook who wants to be part of creating a new and vibrant dining concept.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a chef with:

Experience in a steakhouse, grill, Afro-inspired, or BBQ meat on open fire
Time conscious and accurate preparing multiple dishes as per order.
Strong charcoal/open-flame grilling / Gas grilling skills
We Grill African Sausages , Steaks , fish , prawns, chicken
A passion for flavour, presentation, and modern twists on classic dishes
The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
A positive attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to menu ideas

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare and cook dishes to a high and consistent standard within service time.
Work across grill, prep, and hot sections as required
Maintain stock rotation and support inventory control
Uphold strict food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness standards
Support smooth kitchen operations in coordination with the senior chef team

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

2+ years’ experience as a Chef, Grill Chef, or similar role
Experience with open-flame and charcoal cooking techniques
Knowledge of or interest in:
Zimbabwean / Southern African cuisine (braai, boerewors, pap, chakalaka)
Nigerian dishes (suya, Grilled fish, grilled meats, jollof)
Ability to adapt, modernise, or recreate traditional dishes
Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
