Full job description

At New Direction Support, we provide award-winning, person-centred care to people with learning disabilities, autism and additional needs. We are passionate about empowering individuals to live fulfilling lives in their own homes, supported by skilled, motivated and compassionate teams.

Due to continued growth, we are expanding our Practice Management Team and are looking for an exceptional Practice Leader to join us.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced care professional who is passionate about delivering outstanding support and developing high-performing teams.

As a Practice Leader, you will play a key role in ensuring the people we support receive safe, effective, caring and person-centred services. You will lead by example, promote best practice, coach and develop staff, and work alongside Service Lead to ensure high standards are maintained across all areas of service delivery.

This role requires someone who is organised, resilient and committed to doing the right thing, even when faced with difficult decisions or challenging conversations. The needs of the people we support must always come first.

Key Responsibilities

Promoting Quality of Sleep (QoS) and Quality of Life (QoL)
Supporting the implementation of Practice Leadership and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
Creating and maintaining a positive, accountable and professional workplace culture
Coaching, mentoring and developing support staff through role modelling and constructive feedback
Reviewing staff practice and driving continuous improvement
Supporting Managers to meet legal, regulatory and organisational requirement
Ensuring robust safeguarding practices are embedded throughout services
Monitoring quality, compliance and performance standards
Supporting people to achieve meaningful outcomes, maintain relationships and maximise independence
Participating fully in the organisation's on-call rota
Providing hands-on operational support when required

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has a genuine commitment to improving the lives of our Service Users and training Support Workers.
Puts the needs and wellbeing of service users at the centre of every decision
Is highly organised, dependable and able to manage competing priorities effectively
Demonstrates a strong work ethic and leads by example
Is confident in holding professional, constructive and sometimes challenging conversations when necessary
Can maintain professional boundaries whilst building positive working relationships
Is resilient, adaptable and calm under pressure
Takes ownership of responsibilities and follows tasks through to completion
Is committed to supporting colleagues whilst maintaining high standards and accountability
Is flexible and able to meet the operational needs of the organisation

Important Information

This is a leadership role within a 24-hour support service.

Successful applicants must be able to fully participate in the On-call rota, which is delegated fairly. This may include evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the flexibility required to fulfil the responsibilities of the role and respond to operational needs when required.

Full training, induction and ongoing support will be provided to help you succeed in the position.

Essential Requirements

Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
Minimum 2 years' experience working within a UK care setting
Minimum 2 years' experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the UK care sector
Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills
Willingness to work towards a relevant qualification if not already achieved
Availability to participate in the On-call rota
