Food Development and Production Chef.

Picture this: a tiny kitchen, a dream, a vision, a passion. Here we are: 7 years trading and we still have the same challenges and passions and commitment. However, now, we have a reputation to uphold. With very limited space and therefore equipment, we have to separate prep and service roles within our kitchen.

The Scullery Kitchen & Bar Huddersfield, West Yorkshire

British. Contemporary. Local. Seasonal.

The Scullery is an established, independent restaurant based within the historic surroundings of Bents House, Huddersfield.

We are looking for an experienced Pastry, Baking & Prep Chef to take complete ownership of our dessert, baking and preparation operation.

This is not a traditional restaurant chef position.

There are no split shifts. No late finishes. No standing on a busy service section until midnight.

Instead, this is an opportunity for an organised, self-motivated chef to work largely independently, creating the foundations that allow our kitchen to deliver exceptional food.

You will have complete autonomy over your section and become an integral part of a thriving independent restaurant with ambitious plans and a genuine commitment to quality.

Our kitchen is compact and our standards are high. Success in this role requires creativity, organisation and the ability to plan production effectively.

The Role

Production of restaurant-quality desserts Baking breads, desserts, elements of the menu that cannot be produced mid service Preparation of pastry products and menu components Production planning around service requirements Development of new seasonal desserts and baked products Working closely with the owners to evolve and improve our offering

Who We’re Looking For

You may be a pastry chef, baker, production chef or someone with strong professional baking experience.

Most important is who you are:

Self-motivated Organised and methodical Comfortable working independently Passionate about quality ingredients Creative and proud of your craft Reliable and consistent

You’ll enjoy taking ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.

This role suits someone who wants genuine responsibility and the freedom to make their mark.

Most production takes place during early morning hours 6:30am – 10:30am Thursday to Sunday and/or Wednesdays when the restaurant is closed.Typical start times may be between 5am and 7am depending on production requirements.
