Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our childcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and supporting their early development. This role involves ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. The Nursery Manager will also be responsible for leading a team of childcare professionals, organising activities, and fostering positive relationships with parents and guardians.

Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring high standards of care and education are maintained.
Lead, motivate, and supervise nursery staff to deliver exceptional childcare services.
Develop and implement age-appropriate programmes that promote early childhood development.
Oversee staff recruitment, training, and performance appraisals to ensure a competent team.
Maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and early years legislation.
Build strong relationships with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on children's progress.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of care provided.
Ensure effective communication within the team and with external agencies as necessary.

Qualifications

Proven management experience within a nursery or childcare setting.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
Extensive knowledge of early childhood education principles and childcare regulations.
Experience working directly with children across various age groups.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Level 3 Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care or equivalent are essential; further qualifications in early childhood education are desirable.
Valid driving licence is preferred for travel between multiple nursery sites or community engagement activities.
