Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Shift Support Worker specialising in adult learning disabilities. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care and support to individuals with learning disabilities during overnight hours. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, ensuring safety, and promoting independence within a supportive environment. Previous experience in assisted living, patient care, or related fields is highly desirable. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of adults with complex needs while working within a professional and caring team.

Responsibilities

Support adults with learning disabilities during night shifts, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the night.
Assist with personal care tasks such as hygiene, grooming, and mobility support.
Administer medication in accordance with prescribed instructions and organisational policies.
Monitor behavioural patterns and implement behaviour management strategies as required.
Prepare and serve meals or snacks suitable for individual dietary requirements.
Engage residents in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction.
Document observations, incidents, and care provided accurately in accordance with organisational procedures.
Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical or behavioural crises, following first aid protocols.
Assist with light domestic duties such as laundry, communal cleaning and deep cleaning tasks on a rolling rota
Maintain a safe environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and reporting hazards promptly.

Qualifications

Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home care, dementia or Alzheimer’s care, or home care is preferred but not essential.
Knowledge of patient care practices including medication administration, behaviour management, and first aid certification is advantageous.
Experience in caring for individuals with dementia, hospice needs, or other complex conditions is desirable.
Valid driving licence is beneficial for supporting residents outside the organisation’s premises if required.
Ability to work independently during night hours while maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.
Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills and patience when supporting adults with learning disabilities.
Physical capability for heavy lifting when necessary and assisting residents with mobility needs.
