Full job description

HGV Technician/Tachograph Technician required at Alconbury Hill Truck & Tacho Centre, Huntingdon.

Hours:

40 hours per week

Monday to Friday 8-5pm

Alconbury Hill Truck & Tacho Centre , which is now an approved DVSA Tachograph Centre, is a division of E M Bacon (Haulage) Ltd, who have been maintaining their own vehIcles since the 1980’s are now establishing a HGV workshop offering Tachograph calibration and routine inspections and maintenance.

We are looking for a HGV Technician/Tachograph Technician

This position will be based at Alconbury Hill, just outside Huntingdon and close to Peterborough, in a new Tacho and Service centre providing a quality service including diagnosis, Tacho repairs & Calibration and MOT preparation works, routine servicing and inspections.

The Role

HGV Technician/Tachograph Technician

· Undertake the installation and calibrations of digital, smart, and analogue tachograph systems using up-to-date software and equipment

· Ensure all work is carried out to DVSA standards

· Diagnose faults and carry out troubleshooting on a range of tachograph equipment

· Repair and rectify identified tachograph faults

· Carry out vehicle speed limiter checks and recalibration as required

· Providing general administration for the workshop and assist with other workshop activities as and when required

· Ensuring all customer expectations are met and exceeded by carrying out all work in line with their requirements, with any additional work authorised by the customer

· Maximising management of the workshop booking diary, planning and managing workload, updating and closing job cards with notes and explanations added to ensure full understanding of the expenditure

· Use computers confidently as part of daily tasks

· Ensure effective cost control by using the best purchasing practices when ordering parts and managing all returns are dealt with in a timely manner

· Adhere to all health and safety regulations

· All working areas to be kept clean and a safe working environment

· Handling customer calls and booking appointments onto the system

· Maintain detailed service records and complete compliance documentation accurately

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

HGV Level 3 qualification or proven experience

Tachograph experience (full training will be given)

Driving license (HGV Class 1 would be an advantage, not essential)
