Full job description

Job Title: Payroll and bookkeeping clerk

Role: To support the Accounts department with the operation of payroll for all clients and also to maintain bookkeeping and VAT for a number of clients.

Location: Newton Abbot

Hours: Full time – 35 hours. Part time/flexible hours can be considered.

Monday - Thursday 09:00 - 17:30

Friday - 09:00 - 14:00

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 DOE

Responsibilities

· Main role will be to operate weekly, monthly and annual payrolls for the department, including the operation of Pension Auto Enrolment. Submitting data to HMRC on a timely basis.

· Setting up new payroll clients and encouraging growth in the department.

· Drafting of quarterly payroll bills.

· Dealing with HMRC payroll correspondence

· You will be introduced to several bookkeeping clients over time to do alongside the payrolls if that fits with the role.

· Bookkeeping clients can be on either Sage, Xero or Quickbooks.

· Comply with internal policies and procedures, ethical and regulatory requirements, including money laundering checks

Requirements

· Experience with working in Practice, at least 3 years payroll experience. Bookkeeping experience would be useful

· Have experience with Sage payroll and accounts software, Microsoft office.

· Have excellent communication skills

· Ability to work in a team

· Technically able and capable of dealing with multiple tasks
