Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and eager to develop their skills within a professional hospitality environment. The position is paid and suitable for those with a keen interest in food production and kitchen management.

Duties

Assist in preparing ingredients and cooking dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support senior chefs in food presentation and plating to ensure visual appeal
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all kitchen areas
Contribute to the organisation of food storage, stock rotation, and inventory management
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service periods
Supervise junior staff when required, providing guidance on food preparation and safety procedures
Assist in the development of new menu items and culinary techniques under supervision
Ensure all kitchen equipment is used correctly and maintained properly

Qualifications

Previous experience in a professional kitchen or hospitality setting is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
Strong organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Good communication skills and team management abilities
Demonstrated passion for culinary arts and hospitality service
Supervising experience or leadership qualities are advantageous
Experience in food production, cooking, and restaurant service is preferred
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or public holidays as required
