Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Cook/Kitchen Hand to join our busy culinary team. This role involves assisting with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will support the kitchen operations, ensuring meals are prepared efficiently and to a high standard, while maintaining a clean and organised workspace.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with recipes and quality standards
Support the cooking process by preparing ingredients and basic dishes under supervision
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces in compliance with food safety regulations
Ensure proper storage of ingredients and leftovers to prevent contamination
Assist with stock rotation and inventory checks to ensure freshness and availability of supplies
Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold hygiene standards
Support serving staff during busy periods, ensuring timely delivery of meals to customers

Skills

Experience in food preparation and cooking within a commercial or hospitality setting
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Proven kitchen experience, ideally within a restaurant or catering environment
Ability to assist with meal preparation efficiently under supervision
Good organisational skills with attention to detail in handling ingredients and equipment
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Basic understanding of culinary techniques and food presentation skills is desirable
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities during service hours
