Marketing Manager

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Working pattern: Office-based

About Ellenvale Interiors

Ellenvale Interiors is a fast-growing British interiors brand specialising in soft furnishings for the home.

Founded in 2021, Ellenvale has grown from a small independent business into an established ecommerce brand with a loyal and rapidly growing customer base, alongside partnerships with some of the UK's leading retailers.

We are now looking for an experienced Marketing Manager to join the business and take ownership of Ellenvale's marketing function as we enter our next stage of growth.

This is an important senior appointment for the business. We are looking for someone who brings established marketing experience, strong commercial understanding and, most importantly, the confidence and knowledge to tell us what we should be doing next.

The Role

This is a broad, hands-on marketing position covering strategy, campaign management, email and SMS, SEO, paid advertising, partnerships, brand growth and customer acquisition and retention.

We aren't looking for someone to simply execute an existing marketing plan.

We want an experienced marketer who can create that plan.

You will be responsible for developing Ellenvale's annual marketing strategy, creating campaigns and seeing them through from initial concept to execution and analysis.

You'll report directly to the Founder and work closely with our Head of Ecommerce and Social Media Manager, who operate as separate functions within the business.

Marketing Strategy & Campaigns

Develop and own Ellenvale's annual marketing strategy and marketing calendar.
Proactively identify opportunities, campaigns and initiatives to grow the brand.
Develop creative marketing campaigns around new collections, key trading periods, seasonal moments and wider brand opportunities.
Take campaigns from initial concept through to launch, execution and post-campaign analysis.
Present campaign concepts, strategies and budgets to the Founder for approval.
Develop campaign messaging, creative direction and marketing assets.
Brief the Social Media Manager on campaign requirements and work collaboratively to ensure organic social supports wider marketing activity.
Work alongside the Head of Ecommerce to ensure campaigns are effectively represented across the Ellenvale website.
Continually bring new marketing ideas and opportunities into the business rather than relying on direction from the Founder.

Email Marketing & SMS

Email and customer retention will be a significant part of this position.

You will:

Take full ownership of Ellenvale's Klaviyo account and email marketing strategy.
Develop and manage the email and SMS marketing calendar.
Create, design and send marketing campaigns.
Write engaging, commercially effective marketing copy.
Build and continually optimise automated Klaviyo flows.
Develop sophisticated customer segmentation.
Implement A/B and multivariate testing.
Develop strategies to grow Ellenvale's subscriber database.
Improve customer retention and repeat purchase rates.
Analyse email and SMS performance and revenue contribution.
Identify opportunities within customer data and lifecycle marketing.

Previous hands-on Klaviyo experience is essential.

SEO

SEO will be a major area of responsibility within this role.

You will take ownership of Ellenvale's SEO activity in-house, including:

Developing and implementing a comprehensive SEO strategy.
Technical SEO.
Keyword research.
Competitor and search landscape analysis.
On-page SEO.
Product and collection page optimisation.
SEO copywriting.
Developing and implementing an SEO-led content and blog strategy.
Google Search Console.
Monitoring keyword rankings and search visibility.
Identifying backlink and authority-building opportunities.
Identifying technical issues and opportunities.
Monitoring organic traffic, conversions and revenue.
Continually identifying opportunities to increase Ellenvale's organic search presence.

We are specifically looking for someone with genuine hands-on SEO experience rather than someone who has solely managed external SEO agencies.

Paid Marketing

You will work closely with our Head of Ecommerce on Ellenvale's paid acquisition activity.

The successful candidate must have strong practical knowledge of:

Meta Ads Manager.
Google Ads.
Google Shopping.
Campaign creation and optimisation.
Prospecting and retargeting.
Audience development.
Creative testing.
Budget allocation.
Attribution.
ROAS, MER and CAC.
Scaling successful campaigns while maintaining commercial performance.

Our Head of Ecommerce currently oversees paid advertising, so this position will work collaboratively alongside them while bringing additional marketing expertise, campaign strategy and creative direction to our paid activity.

Brand Growth, Partnerships & PR

We want this person to continually look beyond our existing marketing channels and identify new opportunities to grow Ellenvale.

Responsibilities will include:

Developing a brand partnership strategy.
Identifying and approaching complementary brands for collaborations.
Identifying PR and editorial opportunities.
Developing affiliate marketing opportunities.
Identifying relevant events and brand activations.
Developing creative customer acquisition initiatives.
Identifying new marketing channels.
Looking for opportunities to increase Ellenvale's brand awareness and reach.
Developing opportunities to grow Ellenvale both within the UK and internationally.
Supporting the growth of Ellenvale's trade business through targeted marketing initiatives.
Building relationships with relevant external partners, publications and organisations.

Influencer collaborations are managed by our Social Media Manager, but the Marketing Manager will work closely alongside this activity as part of Ellenvale's wider brand strategy.

Creative & Content

This isn't a graphic design position, but you must be confident creating high-quality marketing assets yourself.

Responsibilities will include:

Developing creative concepts for campaigns.
Creating marketing graphics and campaign assets.
Writing marketing and campaign copy.
Developing creative briefs.
Identifying the photography, video and content required to support upcoming campaigns.
Working collaboratively with the Founder and Social Media Manager on campaign creative.
Contributing marketing and customer insight to future product and collection development.

Strong Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite skills are required.

Analytics, Reporting & Commercial Performance

We want marketing decisions at Ellenvale to be led by data as well as creativity.

You will:

Produce clear weekly and monthly marketing performance reports.
Analyse performance across paid advertising, email, SMS, SEO and wider marketing activity.
Use GA4, Shopify, Klaviyo, Meta and Google data to understand customer and marketing performance.
Monitor CAC, ROAS, MER, AOV, conversion, retention and new vs returning customer performance.
Set marketing forecasts and targets.
Track performance against agreed targets.
Clearly communicate what is working, what isn't and what should change.
Recommend where marketing budget should be increased, reduced or reallocated.
Use customer and marketing data to challenge assumptions and inform future business decisions.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
