Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced GP Receptionist to join our busy medical practice. The ideal candidate will have a minimum one years' experience in Primary Care, and have experience of using Systm One. They will be responsible for providing exceptional front-desk support, ensuring smooth patient flow, and maintaining efficient administrative operations. This role requires a professional, organised individual with previous office and administrative experience, who can handle a fast-paced environment with professionalism and empathy. The successful applicant will play a vital part in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the overall functioning of the practice. This will require cross site working.

Candidates must be flexible and be able to work between the hours of 08.00am and 18.30pm on a rota basis, Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities

Greeting patients warmly and professionally upon arrival
Managing appointment scheduling and cancellations efficiently
Answering incoming calls promptly and directing enquiries appropriately
Updating patient records accurately within the practice management system
Handling administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and correspondence
Managing patient enquiries both face-to-face and via telephone or email
Assisting with the organisation of clinic workflows to optimise patient experience
Ensuring the reception area remains tidy, welcoming, and well-stocked
Supporting other administrative staff as required to ensure smooth daily operations

Skills

Proven office experience, ideally within a healthcare setting
Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and organisation
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to remain calm under pressure whilst managing multiple tasks
Proficiency in using computer systems and practice management software
Friendly, empathetic manner with a professional approach to patient care
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment
