Introduction to Generate
Generate has been creating opportunities and offering support to people with a learning disability since 1972. We are committed to improving the lives of people with a learning disability by supporting and encouraging them in a creative way to access opportunities in their communities, take their place as citizens and reduce their reliance on services.
In addition to our youth and community services targeted at people with a learning disability, we also provide an Access to Work service. We work on delivering one-to-one employment support workers and Job Coaching staff across London to individuals with a range of disabilities.
It is funded for in-work support through the Department of Work and Pensions’ Access to Work Programme, although there is scope for this service to expand into other areas of supported employment. It is the largest provider of the programme within London with a wide breadth of scope in terms of location and range of disabilities supported.
Main Purpose of the Job
To support client with disabilities and/or health conditions in their workplace.
Detailed Responsibilities and Duties
Duties will include but are not limited to: -
You will need to work flexibly including different patterns of working hours to assist the Social Worker to meet deadlines and competing priorities. This will include supporting the Social Worker to Cover the team inbox, manage documentation, scrutinize assessments and undertake assessments. You will need to understand and work within policies covering confidentiality, General Data protection Regulations, , Health and safety, supporting the Social Worker to professionally represent the Bi-Borough in meeting the needs of local residents with care and sensitivity. You will need to undertake Journey planning, Navigation to meetings and visits, note taking on visits to care homes and hospitals, , Minute-taking at meetings, provide guiding support within unfamiliar environments (negotiating narrow hallways, trip hazards and obstacles), Making Observations relevant to an assessment.
You will be able to proofread/take dictation/read aloud to a high standard, accessing printed material, or electronic material that is not in an accessible format
You will need to search for information using internet searches, government websites etc. Looking up and keeping up to date contact information for partner agencies and useful contacts
You will be required to look up information on the Adult Social Care records database (currently Mosaic), Recording or looking up case notes and uploaded documentation or assessments
You will be required to look up and record information on an excel spreadsheet, look up and upload documentation on sharepoint. You will access,send and download encrypted emails
You will check and proof read documents and assessments ensuring they meet the highest standards
You will be required to work flexibly, undertaking work as directed by the Social worker, and facilitating the completion of his work duties. The nature of the role and specific requirements of the role may change from time to time without prior notice in accordance with changes to the work and role of the Social worker and his team
Experience
Essential: At least some experience post study working in an office based or similar environment.
Desirable: Experience of working in a local authority Experience of working in the Health and Care sector Experience of disability

COMMUNICATION
Essential:
Ability to approach and identify Social Worker to person’s known or unknown
Ability to communicate effectively with the team and other professionals, partner agencies, residents and friends or family members
Ability to proofread and read aloud to a high standard previously unseen complex documentation Ability to take dictation as handwritten notes, or directly into PC Excellent telephone/email/correspondence skills
General Responsibilities
· To be an active member of the Generate staff team.

· Although normal office/ retail/ hospitality sector hours will apply, the post holder must be flexible in his/her hours to meet the needs of Generate.
· Keep records and report on outcomes of your work.
· Keep up to date with current issues and good practice in the field of the Access to Work programme.
· Engage with support offered by colleagues and undertake training as required.
· Undertake any other reasonable task relevant to the work of the organisation that may be requested by the management team.
