Fingleton White provide multidiscipline engineering services for the energy industry. We provide a full range of design, construction and commissioning services and are active across many sectors including Renewables, Gas Networks, Water, Energy & Utilities, and Asset Management. Our Gas Networks design team are delivering projects in areas such as Biogas from Anaerobic Digestion, Carbon Capture, Hydrogen and Biomethane for grid injection and transport. Expertise in these areas will be key for the future as they provide unique and complex challenges that requires highly technical and specialised engineering solutions.

The Role….

Project Design Engineer – REF 2618

We are looking to recruit a Project Design Engineer to join our Gas Transmission/Distribution Networks design team. The successful candidate will join an established team with senior support and will have the opportunity as their career progresses to acquire a broad range of skills and experience in design and project management.

The role will provide you with essential engineering, communications and project delivery skills which are transferrable across any engineering project.

The location for this role will be in our Hemel Hempstead office.

The initial role will include:

Design & Project Coordination from conceptual phase through to project completion in the Gas network sector in areas such as: New build AGI and PRI and Capacity Upgrades, Renewable Gas (Biogas, Biomethane and Hydrogen), Tx/Dx Pipelines and pipeline Diversions and Design of upgrade works across gas distribution networks
Innovation and Development projects in the areas of Hydrogen and Biomethane
Work within a design team including Mechanical, Civil, E&I, CP and drafting team members
Design from first principles and development of Design Drawings and specifications as well as Conceptual, Preliminary and Detailed Design Reports
Surveying of natural gas installations
Liaising with local authorities, clients and other stakeholders
Presentation of design solutions to client
Hazardous Area Classification & ATEX Assessments
Attend and participate in HAZID/ HAZOP and LOPA studies

Requirements:

The Candidate….

The ideal candidate will have:

Engineering degree (Bachelor Honours degree or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or similar discipline.
4+ years post-graduate experience.
Experience in the Gas Industry
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Good academic record
Full clean driving license and own transport required
Fluent written and spoken English is essential
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
