Full job description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Early Years professional to join our leadership team as Deputy Manager within our unique nature-based early years setting.

This role will work closely alongside our existing leadership team, helping to deliver high-quality care and education through a child-led, play-based approach that combines nurturing indoor environments with meaningful outdoor experiences.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for early years education and outdoor learning.

We have a strong background in outdoor learning and forest school practice, and our aim is to provide an outstanding experience for both children and families.

Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Room Leader, Senior Practitioner or in a similar leadership role would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Nursery Manager to deliver our ethos and philosophy to a high standard in line with the EYFS framework.
Support the day-to-day running of the nursery and confidently manage the setting in the manager’s absence.
Promote a child-led, nature-based, play-centred approach to learning.
Ensure high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing throughout the provision.
Build strong and positive relationships with children, families and staff.
Support with planning engaging learning opportunities and outdoor experiences.
Be flexible, creative and responsive to children's interests, curiosity and individual needs.
Support the leadership team with Ofsted preparation and maintaining high-quality practice across the setting.
Support the induction, mentoring and development of staff.
Lead by example and model outstanding early years practice.
Support monitoring children's progress and promoting positive outcomes for all children.
Assist with maintaining policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
Help mentor and support other practitioners within the team.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

Holds a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (or QTS/PGCE).
Has at least 2 years' experience within early years settings.
Has excellent knowledge of the EYFS, child development and effective early years practice.
Is passionate about outdoor learning and nature-based education.
Is confident with safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
Is warm, nurturing, enthusiastic and approachable.
Can communicate confidently with children, parents and colleagues.
Enjoys working as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
Has experience supporting, mentoring or leading other practitioners, or is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey.
Ideally holds a Forest School qualification or has a strong interest in outdoor education.

Further Information

Full-time role
Nursery operates 52 weeks per year
Children attend until 6pm
Days begin and end at our nursery base, with regular minibus journeys to our woodland and outdoor learning environments.

Salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
