Job title: Referrals and Allocations Officer

Reports to: Service Lead

Hours: 20 hours per week

Salary: £12.71 per hour with competitive bonuses for occupancy targets

Location: Birmingham, B16

DBS required: Yes, Enhanced and Barred

Purpose: Pegasus Supported Housing are an established provider of high quality housing and support. Our standard of excellence is echoed through our reputation with service users and partnership organisations in the Midlands. We provide over 100 vulnerable adults with housing every year, significantly contributing to prevention and management of the housing crisis in the Midlands. We are super proud to say that we have been selected to undertake the pilot for the Quality Standards and Charter of Rights. We will be striving to ensure we progress our position as one the leading non-commissioned supported housing providers in Birmingham!

The Referral and Allocations Officer will take lead responsibility in this area and be the first point of contact for individuals making a referral to, or enquiries to the Service. You will be responsible for networking on a day-to-day basis with external agencies and multi-disciplinary agencies with the aim of allocating suitable rooms to those in need. The role is fundamental to increasing revenue for the organisation through filling voids,

Responsibilities

- To ensure maximum occupancy levels are in line with organisational KPI’s to maximise revenue.

- Actively market the organisation, properties and void rooms through the use of social media, our developing extensive referrals emailing list and attendance to local homelessness forum meetings.

- To review referrals in line with the PSH Referrals and Allocations Policy.

- Develop and maintain an effective referrals database in live format for incoming referrals.

- Collate external risk assessments and other supporting evidence from third party organisations a prospective service user may be working with.

- To conduct comprehensive, person centred, risk and needs assessments using a holistic approach to determine a suitability of our services for the individual.

- To communicate with prospective service users about their needs and backgrounds in a non-judgmental, open and respectful manner.

- Manage a waiting list of suitable referrals in a live format.

- Have knowledge and communicate effectively with Housing Officers to ensure all void rooms are suitable for occupancy and allocations are made after consultation with Housing Officers and Life Skills Coaches to ensure appropriate placement of the prospective service user.

- Arrange for interviews and viewings to take place with Service Users and Property Services teams.

- To maintain a positive and professional working relationship with partners, both statutory and voluntary multi-disciplinary referral agencies and develop an expanding network of referral sources to increase referral numbers.

- Produce reports for voids and letting weekly, analyses this data to identify trends across the service and develops action plans to improve services.

- Assist with sign ups for new service users at allocated properties.

Salary, Working Arrangements and Further Information

Standard working hours for this post are 20 hours per week.

£12.71 with competitive bonus for targets reached

Essential:

- Must hold a Full UK Driver’s License and have access to their own vehicle as it will be required for the job role.

- Experience of working with vulnerable adults

- Experience of conducting risk and needs assessments

- Confident in using Microsoft programmes such as word and excel

- Excellent communication skills

Desirable:

- Up to date knowledge of welfare rights and relevant legislation

- Demonstrable experience of co-ordinating housing referrals

- To hold an up to date DBs through the DBS update service.
