About EDGE
EDGE is an independent, multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy with six offices across the UK. We deliver high-quality Cost Management, Project Management, Building Surveying and Quality Monitoring services to a diverse client base across the public and private sectors.
Our core markets include healthcare, education, residential, and defence, where we support the delivery of complex, technically demanding projects, often within live operational environments.
We are proud of our culture—collaborative, ambitious, and people-first—and we actively invest in training, professional development, and long-term career progression.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior MEP Clerk of Works / NEC Supervisor to join our growing Quality Monitoring team.
Working across the Midlands with UK-wide travel where required; acting as our eyes and ears on site, you will independently monitor and inspect mechanical and electrical installations, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with specifications, programme requirements, and the high standards expected by our clients.
You will also undertake the role of NEC Supervisor, supporting contract compliance by ensuring that works meet the requirements of the contract and notifying defects in line with NEC obligations.
Reporting to an Associate / Project Lead, you will work across a varied portfolio of projects within healthcare, education, residential, and defence sectors, frequently in live environments where quality, safety, and coordination are critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake regular inspections of MEP installations, including first fix, second fix, commissioning, and interface with building fabric
- Monitor compliance with contract drawings, specifications, employer’s requirements, and commissioning standards
- Act as NEC Supervisor, identifying and notifying defects and ensuring compliance with contract requirements
- Identify, record, and track defects, non-conformances, and risks through to resolution (utilising platforms such as Field View)
- Review and monitor testing, commissioning, and handover documentation including O&M manuals and certification
- Produce clear, concise site reports with photographic records and progress updates
- Maintain accurate site diaries and robust audit trails to support contractual processes
- Liaise daily with contractors, sub-contractors, MEP specialists, consultants, and client representatives
- Attend and contribute to progress, quality, and technical coordination meetings
- Monitor compliance with health & safety requirements, particularly relating to MEP installations and sequencing
- Support snagging, de-snagging, commissioning, and post-completion verification
- Provide proactive technical quality assurance and buildability advice to project teams
