Job Description: Level 2 or 3 Qualified Early Years Practitioner Term Time Only

Reports to: Preschool Manager

Location: Clavering, Essex

Salary: Competitive, dependent on qualifications and experience

Hours: 8.30am-3.30pm Thursdays and Fridays, Term Time Only (39 weeks per year)

Contract Type: Permanent

We are a committee run Preschool open term time only, seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Preschool Practitioner to join us on a full-time basis. Applicants need to hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification in early years and have at least 1 years’ experience in an early years setting with children aged between 2 and 5 years old. The position is for two days per week, working Thursdays and Fridays from 8.30am to 3.30pm, term time only.

In return you will receive a competitive salary dependent on experience (pro-rata over 12 months), workplace pension, staff events, and a friendly and enjoyable work environment.

Purpose of the Role

To provide high-quality care and early education for children aged 2–5 years, supporting their learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The Practitioner works as part of a team to ensure that every child is safe, nurtured, and supported to achieve their full potential.

Essential Criteria

Full and relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education and Childcare (e.g. NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent).

Sound knowledge of the EYFS and child development from birth to 5 years.

Experience of working with children in a pre-school or nursery setting.

Good literacy and numeracy skills.

Good understanding of safeguarding and health and safety in early years settings.

Ability to build warm, caring, and professional relationships with children, colleagues, and parents/carers.

Excellent communication, observation, and record-keeping skills.

Commitment to equality, inclusion, and continuous professional development.

Desirable Criteria

Paediatric First Aid Certificate

Food Hygiene Qualification

Experience supporting children with additional needs

Knowledge of the Ofsted inspection framework and requirements
