Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Café Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our customers enjoy a welcoming environment and receive excellent service. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills within the hospitality sector while contributing to a vibrant café atmosphere. The role involves assisting with daily operations, maintaining cleanliness, and providing exceptional customer care.

Responsibilities

Greeting customers warmly and taking their orders accurately
Preparing and serving hot and cold beverages, as well as light snacks and baked goods
Maintaining cleanliness of the café, including tables, counters, and kitchen areas
Restocking supplies and ensuring the display areas are tidy and inviting
Handling cash transactions and operating the POS system efficiently
Assisting with opening and closing duties as required
Providing friendly assistance to customers, answering questions about menu items
Supporting team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations

Requirements

Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role is advantageous but not essential
Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanour
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if necessary
Basic numeracy skills for handling cash transactions
A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills
