Admin Assistant

Temporary staff bank contract until 30/09/2026
Full-time hours available (37 hours)

We are looking to recruit an Admin Assistant to join our Adult Services Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Team on a temporary basis.

About the role

You will provide a high-quality administrative and clerical support service to a busy, multi-disciplinary team. This is a varied role where you’ll play a key part in supporting day-to-day operations.

Key responsibilities

Provide clerical and typing support, including maintaining databases and processing information
Handle telephone and reception duties, demonstrating sensitivity and professionalism when dealing with callers
Carry out general administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and processing financial documentation (including petty cash)
Support the wider administrative team, including providing cover when required (this may involve travelling to other local sites)
Maintain and order stationery and office supplies
Undertake other duties appropriate to the nature and grade of the post

About you

Previous administrative experience is essential
Experience of handling telephone enquiries in a busy environment
Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information in line with GDPR and the Data Protection Act
Able to meet the physical demands of the role
Flexible approach to working hours where service needs require

Northumberland County Council’s Staff Bank provides a pool of highly skilled temporary workers who are looking for a long-term placement, or who want to work flexibly within the council. If a team needs support due to sickness, common staff shortages, or general vacancies, they call upon registered bank members to fill available assignments. These can be filled via a long-term assignment for up to 12 months or on an ad hoc basis.
