Location: Based at Boston, to cover the wider Boston area and East Lindsey (with a requirement to be flexible to service need)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Beacon Friends and Family Service. Beacon Friends and Family Service is a new service to the Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership from 1st April 2025. The service provides a safe place for anyone affected by somebody else’s use of drugs or alcohol.

Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership, is a vibrant new partnership delivering substance use treatment and recovery services across Lincolnshire from April 2024. Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership is delivered in partnership between Turning Point, Framework and Double Impact. The partnership combines Turning Point’s national experience as an outstanding substance use provider together with Double Impact’s specialism in lived experience and recovery and Framework’s expertise supporting service users with complex issues.

Our ‘Recovery First’ model underpins everything at Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership, with lived experience recovery fully integrated and visible throughout. Lincolnshire’s residents will benefit from Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership’s highly integrated and highly localised approach, supporting with multiple issues across all parts of Lincolnshire.

As a Family and Affected Others Practitioner we offer a starting salary of £25, 870 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £30,265 per year (Pro-Rata). Whether you are looking to progress into a management and leadership role or to be a specialist in your field as an Advanced Substance Use Practitioner at Turning point we will support and encourage you on your career journey.

Main Responsibilities

As a Family and Affected Others Practitioner you will be dedicated to supporting adults, young people and children over the age of 5 who have been affected by substance use. You will work with individuals and families to provide information and advice tailored to their personal circumstances and goals. Your aim will be to equip those you support with the knowledge, tools and emotional resilience needed to navigate the impact of substance use and enable them to focus on their wellbeing.

The role is varied, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one to one and group basis is vital, this will include both face-to-face and online delivery to ensure we reach everyone. We also look for candidates with excellent communication skills and who share our values as an organisation. No day is the same in this role but an ability to communicate effectively with a range of service users, colleagues, and partner agencies is essential along with an ability to manage different tasks and a commitment to Turning Points values are essential.

This is an outreach service so flexibility, ability to drive and access to a vehicle are essential to be able to be able to provide the high-quality person-centred support needed.

Duties will include: -

Effective case management of family member/affected others (will include young people and/or adults);
Carry out comprehensive family/affected others assessments including assessment of personal strengths and identification of any risk factors;
Formulate, monitor and review risk assessments and risk management plans to ensure safe guarding in place;
Develop person centred support plans using a strengths-based approach;
Deliver high-quality person-centred interventions in accordance with their needs.
Delivery face-to-face and online structured interventions groups

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Lived experience and knowledge of the issues experienced by those affected by substance use issues;
Experience and knowledge of effective caseload management including assessing, managing risk, confidentiality and consent, and boundaries;
Knowledge of engagement and support strategies;
Strong organisational and IT skills;
Ability to manage own time, prioritise and maintain accountability for own work.
