15 to 20 hours a week

Kenburgh House, 28 Manor Row, Bradford, BD1 4QU

Probationary period:

Role Background

Do you have experience of working in a busy finance office and have great numeracy skills?

Mind Bradford District & Craven is looking for an eager and detail-focused Finance Officer to work within our supportive and dynamic Finance team. Youll provide essential accounting support to meet the needs of the business following a period of rapid growth. You will be organised and have a methodical way of working, with strong excel skills and be familiar with accounting processes.
Hours can be worked flexibly and there is the possibility for additional hours and/or responsibility should the organisational growth continue.

Role Purpose

As a Finance Assistant, you will play an essential role in providing support to the Head of Finance and Finance Officer. You will deliver the day-to-day operational finance functions by the processing and recording of financial transactions to allow the provision of accurate and timely financial information.

Role Outcomes

Financial Processing

- - Ensure invoices and expenses are correctly authorised and coded
  - Process purchase and sales invoices; process staff/volunteer expense claims
  - Match bank payments/receipts to purchase and sales invoices and fundraising income
Banking & Reconciliations
Complete regular bank reconciliations
Manage petty cash and donations; recording transactions accurately
Carry out credit control, including chasing outstanding payments

Payroll Support
Assist with processing monthly departmental timesheets, salary, overtime, and related payroll information
Prepare and post payroll journals

Financial Reporting
Manage purchase invoice accruals and process regular monthly journals
Produce income and expenditure reports for budget holders

General Duties
Monitor the finance inbox and handle or triage queries, maintain effective finance filing systems and provide administrative support to the Head of Finance and Finance Office
Consistently working in alignment with our aims, objectives, policies, core values and standards set out in our Employee Handbook.
Fully participating in all relevant training to develop and maintain your performance in the role
Demonstrating an ongoing commitment to our values: Caring Always, Working Together, Supporting Everyone, Enabling All and Continually Improving.
Performing other duties as reasonably required within the role.

Qualifications

Essential:

- GCSE Maths, English at Grade 4 or above or equivalent.

Desirable:

- Accounting Qualification from a recognised accountancy body (or working towards)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development

Experience

Essential:

- A high level of numeracy and financial awareness with a basic working knowledge of accounting
- Oversight of an Accounting Package e.g. QuickBooks or Sage
- Experience of working in a similar role within an organisation

Desirable:

- Handling of, and accounting for, cash in an operational environment

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

- Organised and methodical with an excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time and workload management with the ability to work to tight deadlines
- Good IT Skills with emphasis on financial systems, including Microsoft Office with strong skills in Exce
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to use own initiative
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

- Strong communication and presentation skills

- Positive attitude towards those with mental health difficulties and able to respect and value people unconditionally
- Ability to work effectively and make good use of time and resources
- Positive and flexible attitude to duties
