We have a great opportunity for a Procurement Assistant to join our Commercial Medical and Surgical Consumables team. The Procurement Assistant will work as an integral member of the category teams, ensuring procurement processes are managed in line with identified KPIs. The role supports the delivery of the end-to-end procurement process for customers and stakeholders, consistently providing a high level of customer service and ensuring that relationships and processes are managed effectively to enable overall team and organisational targets to be achieved.
The team is responsible for managing six key categories:
- Pressure Area Care and Patient Handling (PACPH)
- Maternity, Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Sexual Health Products
- Aids for Daily Living
- Infant Feeding and Accessories
- Obstetrics and Vinyl Pessaries
- Surgical Implants
- Wheelchairs, Specialist Seating and Services
Given the breadth and complexity of these categories, the Procurement Assistant role is critical in ensuring continuity of service, maintaining procurement performance standards, and supporting the delivery of customer requirements. The procurement assistant role means the team can continue to meet operational demands, maintain stakeholder service levels, and deliver against its procurement objectives.
Every day you will….
- Supporting Sourcing/Category Strategy development and framework renewals, with two frameworks at Category/Sourcing Strategy stage, and work soon to commence on the future merging of PACPH, Wheelchairs and Aids for Daily Living.
- Pricing management
- Produce quotes and Issue URNs for direct products
- Creating NPM documentation and monitoring timely returns.
- Reviewing price increases, assessing customer impact, and liaising with suppliers to mitigate increases before escalation.
- Managing new product line creation and portfolio range management.
- Managing alternatives for the Wellbeing portfolio, with a large number of stocked and direct lines and pressure from inventory to provide alternatives promptly.
- Managing PROC processes, ensuring accurate completion in line with Data Quality KPI.
- Running bespoke quarterly market share reports for suppliers.
- Supporting inventory with minor supplier issues and assisting Category Managers and Category Buyer with more complex issues.
- Supporting supplier communication (ICNs) with resilience issues.
- Maintaining product data, including ensuring all images are uploaded and updated.
- Aligning product hierarchies with tender classifications.
- Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programme, with each PA managing a set of suppliers.
- Additional to the role of Procurement Assistant, being part of the Procurement Assistant Forum within Rehab and Community and encouraging wider integration across the whole MSRC Category Team.

- Experience working on Microsoft Office and Excel at an advanced level.
- Ideally previous experience within a commercial/hospital/medical equipment environment but not essential.
