About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Sous Chef to join our care home kitchen team. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in preparing nutritious, delicious meals that support the health and wellbeing of our residents.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chef who enjoys making a positive difference through high-quality food and takes pride in maintaining exceptional kitchen standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Prepare and cook meals to a high standard, ensuring nutritional and dietary requirements are met.
Support menu planning and food presentation.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and safety.
Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising food waste.
Supervise kitchen staff in the Head Chef's absence.
Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene, HACCP, COSHH, and Health & Safety regulations.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide an excellent dining experience for residents.

Person Specification

A caring, compassionate and respectful approach.
Good communication skills (Spoken and written English)
Professional Chef Qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent).
Minimum 2 years' experience working within a restaurant, care home, or similar catering environment.
Previous experience in a Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or similar role.
Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and special dietary requirements.
Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum).
Strong organisational and teamwork skills.
A passion for producing high-quality meals and delivering excellent service.

Hours

Full time- 44 hours per week. Shifts worked over a 7 day rota. This can be discussed more at interview stage.
