Full job description

Position: Administrator
Location: Station Road, Rhayader, LD6 5AW
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 3+ Months
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £12.71 per hour

Job Responsibilities:

Provide administrative support to the Waste & Recycling operational and support teams
Respond to customer enquiries and provide accurate information and assistance
Record complaints, service requests, and customer information accurately
Issue, collect, and validate customer documentation in line with procedures
Maintain and update electronic and paper-based records and filing systems
Assist with the preparation of statistical information, reports, and performance data
Process incoming and outgoing post, emails, and garden waste enquiries
Prepare correspondence, reports, policies, and other administrative documents
Arrange meetings, take accurate minutes, and distribute meeting notes in a timely manner
Create, maintain, and archive files and records in accordance with council procedures
Liaise with statutory, voluntary, and independent organisations as required
Order stationery, publications, and equipment in line with procurement procedures
Complete additional administrative duties as directed by the Supervisor
Follow all health and safety procedures and comply with Council policies
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role
Comply with Welsh language requirements applicable to the post

Person Specification:

Must-Have Requirements:

Previous experience working in an office or administrative environment
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent software packages
GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and/or Maths
Strong administrative and numeracy skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines effectively
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience in taking accurate meeting notes and minutes
Professional, friendly, and customer-focused approach
Ability to handle customer enquiries confidently, including challenging situations
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times
Willingness to undertake relevant training where required
Flexible approach to working arrangements
Ability to travel within the county when required
Willingness to work occasional hours outside normal working patterns if necessary

Nice-to-Have Requirements:

Understanding of local authority operations
Knowledge of local government services, particularly Waste & Recycling functions
Knowledge of relevant financial procedures and policies
ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) or equivalent IT qualification
NVQ Level 2 in Administration or Finance
Ability to speak Welsh
