Full job description

THIS IS A FIXED TERM CONTRACT THAT ENDS 31ST OCTOBER 2026

Job Summary

As a Commis Chef, you will be based at our Glasgow unit and play a key role in preparing and cooking high-quality in-flight meals. You will also support customer presentations when required. Working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, you’ll collaborate closely with the kitchen team to ensure all meals meet exact specifications, quantities, and quality standards.

Maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene will be essential, alongside supporting catering operations across our non-airline contracts.

£13.95 per hour + overtime opportunities
Rotating shifts:
- 07:00 – 15:30 (5 days over 7)
- 09:00 – 17:30 (5 days over 7)

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals to required standards and deadlines
Support stores and procurement teams with ordering and product selection
Communicate effectively with the Shift Manager regarding production or delivery issues
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness
Assist with general kitchen operations, including:
- Washing, sorting, assembling, packing, and positioning aircraft equipment
- Processing and stripping trolleys for distribution
- Offloading and sorting food/equipment and delivering to correct areas

Education & Qualifications

GCSEs or equivalent (‘O’ Levels)
Basic Food Hygiene certification (desirable)
City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery (desirable)

Experience

Experience in high-volume cooking (e.g. hotel, restaurant, or airline catering)
Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines

Skills

Strong communication skills (written and verbal English)
Good teamwork and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Basic computer skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
