- Employment type: Entry-level Full-time position (after completion of 6-month probationary period)
- Salary or salary range: £28,000-£32,000 depending on experience
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Evening or occasional weekend work may be required depending on event schedules. Overtime is provided as time off in lieu (TOIL).

As a Junior AV technician, you’ll learn from experienced professionals, gain hands-on experience with the latest technology, and build the foundations for a successful career in the live events industry.
5. Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support experienced technicians while learning how to prepare, install, operate, test, troubleshoot, and maintain AV equipment. The successful candidate will receive guidance and hands-on training, gradually taking on more responsibility as their confidence and technical knowledge develops.
6. Key Responsibilities
- Support the installation and remove of AV equipment such as displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, cameras, control systems, and video conferencing equipment.
- Carry out basic checks to ensure equipment is working correctly before meetings, events, or installations.
- Help troubleshoot technical issues under the guidance of senior technicians.
- Maintain equipment by cleaning, storing, logging, and reporting faults or damage.
- Provide polite and professional support to clients, presenters, colleagues, and event organisers.
- Follow health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling and safe working practices around electrical and technical equipment.
- Keep accurate records of equipment use, faults, repairs, and stock where required.
- Assist with warehouse stock control and equipment preparation
- Assist with the preparation of event documentation, including equipment check lists, delivery paperwork and carnets for internation events.
- Attend training and develop knowledge of AV systems, signal flow, cabling, networking basics, and relevant software platforms.
7. Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- A genuine interest in audio visual technology, events, IT, electronics, or technical production.
- Good practical problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions carefully.
- Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work as part of a team and support others during busy periods.
- Confident using Windows PCs and standard Microsoft Office applications, with a willingness to learn specialist AV software and control systems.
- Good attention to detail when setting up, testing, and checking equipment.
- Awareness of safe working practices and willingness to follow health and safety procedures.
- Full UK driving licence
8. Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience helping with school, college, community, theatre, music, conference, or live-streamed events.
- Basic knowledge of audio, video, lighting, cameras, cabling, or IT networks.
- Experience using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or similar video conferencing platforms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Relevant college course, apprenticeship interest, or qualification in media, production, IT, electronics, music technology, or a related subject.
