Job Purpose
The Bakery Training and Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of two bakery sites, ensuring that both operate efficiently as supportive training environments for adults with learning differences or difficulties, whilst balancing the need for them to function as production kitchens.
Working under the guidance of the Director of Operations, you will oversee both sites (Bristol and Yate), supporting our trainees and staff to deliver high-quality products while embedding a culture of inclusion, learning, independence and respect. You will ensure consistency across both bakeries while responding flexibly to the needs of each site.

Key Responsibilities
Leading Across Two Bakery Sites
- Oversee the daily operation of both bakery sites, ensuring each is safe, organised, and running effectively
- Plan and coordinate production across both locations to meet customer orders and deadlines
- Ensure consistency in product quality, processes, and standards across both sites
- Support and monitor stock levels across both bakeries, including coordination of ingredient ordering
Supporting Trainees in a Real Work Environment
- Ensure trainees across both sites are actively engaged in meaningful, structured bakery tasks
- Support staff to model and adapt tasks to meet a wide range of needs and abilities
- Promote independence and progression for all trainees
- Oversee the induction of new trainees, ensuring a consistent and welcoming experience across both locations
Contributing to Training & Progression
- Deliver and oversee structured, hands-on training in line with the bakery training programme
- Ensure consistent approaches to assessment and recording of trainee progress across both sites
- Contribute to setting individual goals and tracking development
- Provide regular feedback to the Director of Operations on trainee progression and programme effectiveness
Team Support & Coordination
- Support and coordinate staff across both sites, ensuring clear communication and consistency
- Provide on-the-ground leadership when present at each site
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to maintain a shared approach and culture
- Line manage the staff across both locations and provide feedback to the Director of Operations where appropriate
- Provide staff cover and support across the Operations Team when required
Orders, Systems & Organisation
- Oversee order management across both sites, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
- Maintain clear and consistent records relating to production and stock
- Use systems effectively (including Xero where required) to support operations
- Support data collection relating to trainees and bakery outputs across both sites
Working in Partnership
- Engage positively with visiting professionals, families, and stakeholders across both locations
- Support responses to enquiries where appropriate
- Work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure clear and consistent communication
Safeguarding & Responsibility
- Uphold a strong safeguarding culture across both sites
- Report any concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (Director of Operations) or Deputy Safeguarding Lead where appropriate
- Support safe environments that balance appropriate risk with independence
Resilience & Problem Solving
- Respond calmly and effectively to challenges across both sites
- Support staff and trainees through challenges with patience and consistency
Pay: £32,000.00 per year
