Nursery Practitioner (Level 3) – Maternity Cover

Oakbridge Little Learners Ltd – Burntwood

Salary: National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage (age dependent) with opportunities for additional hours
Hours: 27+ hours per week (flexible working pattern)
Contract: Maternity Cover
Start Date: October 2026

Oakbridge Little Learners is a warm, family-run nursery in Burntwood, Staffordshire. We pride ourselves on providing a nurturing, supportive environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn.

Our experienced team has over 30 years of combined experience in early years education, and we are passionate about helping children develop confidence, independence and a love of learning through play.

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Level 3 Nursery Practitioner to join our team on a maternity cover contract. If you are passionate about making a positive difference in children's lives and enjoy working as part of a supportive team, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

This position is for a minimum of 27 hours per week, working flexibly between 7:30am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, across 51 weeks of the year.

Additional hours and overtime may occasionally be available to cover holidays and staff absence, with advance notice provided wherever possible.

The nursery closes for one week over Christmas.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality care and education for children aged 0–5 years in line with the EYFS Framework.
Plan and deliver engaging learning experiences that support children's physical, emotional, social and cognitive development.
Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
Support daily routines including meals, sleep times, toileting and outdoor play.
Observe, assess and record children's progress to support individual learning and development.
Promote positive behaviour and support children's emotional wellbeing.
Maintain a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to continually enhance the nursery experience.
Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies and procedures.

Essential Requirements

Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years Qualification
Previous experience working within an early years or nursery setting
Good knowledge of the EYFS Framework
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children's development
Reliable, enthusiastic and professional approach

Desirable Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not essential:

Paediatric First Aid Certificate
Safeguarding Training
Food Hygiene Certificate
SEN experience or additional childcare training
Experience supporting children with additional needs
