Chasetown Civil Engineering, is a family-owned, market-leading civil engineering business, based in Staffordshire. We deliver high quality and innovative solutions to our clients, specialising in infrastructure, groundworks and related building services with project values ranging between £100,000 and £50m. We keep our clients at the centre of everything we do, remaining true to the founding principles on which the business was established.

We are part of the Tara Group consisting of Cameron Homes delivering high quality new homes across the Midlands and Keon Homes who work in partnership with local authorities for affordable homes provision as well as delivering homes for the private rental sector (PRS).

The Tara Group is a family-owned independent company, consisting of four companies involved in the construction of housing. It was originally founded in 1974 by Noel Sweeney and remains in the ownership of the Sweeney Family. With offices in Chasetown, we employ over 250 across our group and work with over 400 sub-contractors.

We have relationships with clients that go back 40 years, and these trusted, long-standing relationships are a testament to the level of service received and the ability to find solutions.

You will be responsible for supporting and/or managing residential Roads/Sewer and Groundwork sites throughout the Midlands area.

Key role responsibilities

Alongside the production team, prepare monthly forecasts to confirm that resources deployed are targeted to ensure outputs are efficient and cost-effective.
Develop close working relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues around the group, including Project Managers, Contracts Managers, Engineers, Buyers etc, to support the goals of the Intercompany team.
Carrying out timely valuations of work completed on site and ensuring applications for payment are submitted in accordance with Intercompany protocol.
Identifying, appraising and ultimately valuing scope-changes, ranging from strategy-change, to drawing design changes to incidental type works requested on site.
Support the development and adoption of new processes that will harness the full potential of Intercompany working.
Participating in regular project meetings, setting an example and constructively challenging the wider project team to continue to be pro-active, efficient and to effectively mitigate risks and maximise opportunities.
Ensuring COINS ERP system updated to report on project-progress.
Review, alongisde project team colleagues, operational progress against pre-agreed strategies.
Lead the sub-contract procurement process, nurturing sub-contractor relationships.
Processing sub-contract payments and managing sub-contractor accounts.
Supporting with the production of monthly profit & loss reporting and ensuring compliance with contracted responsibilities.
Supporting with the production of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations and sharing this information with key stakeholders.
On occasions, provide support to estimating with measurement and production of Bill of Quantities (BOQs).
Liason with site teams to pro-actively and efficiently resolve site-based Commercial issues.
Pro-actively manage payments, avoiding Intercompany debt.

What we expect from you:

Relevant experience within a Quantity Surveyor role.
Relevant Commercial degree/apprenticeship/educational background.
Strong numerical ability with a minimum of a 6 in GCSE Maths.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Tenacity and passion to do the right thing and get it right first time.
