Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

We are working with a fantastic company that has an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced QS with a background in civil engineering construction to take on a key role within a busy and successful business.

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing project costs, contractual obligations, and change processes to ensure commercial efficiency across projects. The role will include preparing budgets, interim valuations, final accounts, cost forecasting, and supporting value engineering initiatives.

You will also play an important part in developing positive working relationships, supporting dispute avoidance, and contributing to strong governance, quality, and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation and analysis of budgets
Assessment and certification of subcontractor interim payments, ensuring appropriate notices are issued
Preparation of interim valuations and final account submissions
Supporting junior Quantity Surveyors within the business
Assisting with Extension of Time claims and Loss and Expense submissions
Identifying and managing commercial risks
Assisting with accurate monthly Cost Value Reconciliation reports
Establishing, maintaining, and enhancing effective working relationships
Ensuring effective interaction between commercial and operational site teams

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Degree qualification
Civil engineering construction experience
Good knowledge of construction contracts
Strong commercial awareness
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work on their own initiative with minimum supervision
Flexibility to travel frequently to site as required
Ability to work from the office or site, as there is no working from home for this position
