Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Cook to join our care home team for a part-time role, working three days a week from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. In this vital position, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious, delicious meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents, ensuring a high standard of food safety and quality. Your enthusiasm and culinary skills will contribute to creating a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel cared for and valued through the food they enjoy each day.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of meals tailored to residents’ dietary requirements and preferences
Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils
Assist with meal portioning, presentation, and serving to residents in a friendly and professional manner
Follow recipes accurately while accommodating special diets or allergies as needed
Monitor stock levels of ingredients, report shortages, and assist with basic inventory management
Support the overall cleanliness of the kitchen by adhering to health and safety protocols at all times

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining flexibility for special dietary needs
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods
Good communication skills for working collaboratively with staff and serving residents
Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting is advantageous but not essential
Enthusiastic attitude with a passion for delivering quality meals that enhance residents’ well-being
