Full job description

Overview
We are a busy independent family run garage in Boston, Lincolnshire. Looking for an experienced vehicle technician/ MOT Tester to join our team.

The role involves working on a wide range of vehicles carrying out servicing, repairs, diagnostics and MOT testing. We are looking for somebody confident in fault finding and diagnostics who can work efficiently to a high standard.

This is a long-term position, within a friendly, well-established garage with a steady workload and good working environement.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive vehicle diagnostics to identify faults and issues
MOT testing and MOT repairs
Perform repairs and maintenance tasks including brakes, suspension, clutches and timing belts
Use hand tools and power tools effectively to carry out repairs and servicing
Replace worn or damaged parts with precision and care
Test vehicles post-repair to ensure proper functioning and safety standards are met
Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used
Assist in the organisation of workshop areas to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient working environment
Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations at all times

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge with a good understanding of vehicle systems
Proficiency in using hand tools
Experience with power tools relevant to automotive repair tasks
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, handling vehicle components or equipment weighing up to 25kg or more
Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Strong communication skills to accurately report findings and work progress

Requirements

Previous experience as a mechanic
MOT tester licence preferred
Strong diagnostic and fault finding ability
Full UK Driving licence
