At Cheshire East we’re offering a rare opportunity to help shape the strategic direction of a system in transformation and to play a defining role in the next chapter for children and families in Cheshire East as we build something special, to last.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning and Development Lead, based at Delamere House, Crewe, responsible for ensuring that Children’s Social Care staff have high-quality learning and development opportunities. This includes identifying training needs, planning and managing the training budget, and leading the annual workforce development strategy and plan.

About the Role:

The postholder will design, deliver, and evaluate a wide range of learning and development interventions, using innovative approaches such as e-learning and blended learning.

In this role you will analyse service priorities to align workforce development with organisational improvement goals, support the development of a Social Work Learning and Development Academy, and lead the annual social work health check.

The role works collaboratively with practitioners, managers, and partners to promote a restorative learning culture and support continuous improvement across the service.

Partnership & Multi Agency Collaboration

The successful candidate will bring:

Advanced education qualification or equivalent professional experience in Social Work or related area.
A1/V1 accredited NVQ assessor / verifier qualification.
Relevant experience at operational management or senior professional level in setting delivering learning and development to staff / teams / services.
Experience of people management and providing effective leadership.
Experience of performance monitoring and management.
Advanced knowledge of the children’s social care environment and operational service demands.
Advanced theoretical knowledge of National Occupational Standards.
Detailed understanding of legislation, guidance and wider implications of children’s social care policy.
Demonstrable knowledge to ensure Equal Opportunities, anti-discriminatory practice and corporate policy requirements.
Effective communication skills.
