Job title: 4 on 4 off Transport Operator
Location: Barugh Green, Barnsley, S75 1LR
Salary: Dependent on experience
Hours: 48 hours every 8 days
Contract: Permanent

About the role

We’re looking for a Transport Operator to join our team and help deliver safe, efficient and compliant transport plans across our operations. You’ll be responsible for answering the phone to both drivers & customers, relaying information to the planning team and supporting the plan over the weekends.

Key responsibilities

Allocate vehicles and drivers efficiently, factoring in capacity, time windows, and legal compliance
Monitor live operations and respond quickly to disruptions (delays, breakdowns, changes in demand)
Liaise with drivers and customers to ensure smooth execution of the plan
Maintain accurate planning data, paperwork, and system records
Support continuous improvement projects to reduce cost and improve service
Speaking with drivers on a daily basis
Working with our customers to provide the best service

What we’re looking for

Confident communicator—able to coordinate multiple stakeholders clearly and calmly
Good working knowledge of transport compliance and operational constraints
A team player
Comfortable using TMS/planning software and Excel
A proactive mindset with a focus on efficiency and customer service.
