Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef/Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team. This role involves supporting food preparation, ensuring high standards of food safety, and assisting in the smooth operation of the kitchen. The ideal candidate will possess strong culinary skills, leadership qualities, and a passion for hospitality. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is essential, and supervisory experience is a plus. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a professional environment committed to excellence in food service.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met
Support the supervision of kitchen staff and coordinate team activities during service
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in accordance with health regulations
Manage food production processes, including portion control and inventory management
Serve food efficiently to guests, ensuring excellent customer service at all times
Assist with organising kitchen operations, including cleaning schedules and stock replenishment
Support the training of new team members in food preparation and safety procedures
Contribute to menu planning and suggest improvements based on customer feedback

Skills

Proven experience in a culinary or hospitality environment, preferably within a restaurant setting
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills
Supervising experience or leadership qualities to manage team members effectively
Excellent understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills with an eye for detail in food production and presentation
Team management skills with the ability to motivate colleagues and foster a collaborative work environment
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and assist across various kitchen duties as required
