Job Summary
The People Manager plays a key role in supporting the effective delivery of all people-related processes across the organisation. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate HR administration, supporting managers with people processes, coordinating recruitment activity, maintaining employee records, developing training, and contributing to a positive employee experience.
The post-holder will ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies, oversee sickness and absence administration, support payroll processes, and help develop management capability in people management practices. This role is particularly important in supporting the organisation's response to current and forthcoming employment legislation.
The role will support the continuous improvement of people processes and systems, helping to design, implement, and embed new ways of working that improve efficiency, compliance, and the employee experience.
The 15 hours per week will be spread over 3 days on site, and will occasionally include evening and weekends when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Selection
- Develop and maintain a seasonal recruitment plan aligned with business workforce requirements.
- Draft and maintain job descriptions and recruitment adverts, ensuring consistency of branding and messaging while monitoring advertising costs.
- Coordinate the end-to-end recruitment administration process, including posting vacancies, managing applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
- Invite shortlisted candidates to interview and assessment activities.
- Support recruitment events, assessment centres, and hiring initiatives.
- Make verbal offers of employment and coordinate pre-employment administration.
Employee Lifecycle & Compliance
- Manage onboarding administration, including issuing new starter communications and uploading documentation to the HR system.
- Complete and record Right to Work checks in line with current legislation.
- Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring GDPR compliance and data integrity.
- Liaise with external HR consultants regarding complex employee relations and staffing matters.
Training & Development
- Train to deliver company induction programmes and customer service training for new starters.
- Support managers in understanding and applying HR procedures consistently and effectively.
- Assist with the development and implementation of people-related training initiatives.
- Record and monitor qualifications and certifications, and advise of expiring dates in good time to organise renewals.
Sickness, Absence & HR Administration
- Oversee daily sickness and absence reporting, ensuring managers provide all required information and records are accurately maintained in a timely manner within the HR system.
- Produce and distribute weekly sickness and absence reports to managers.
- Monitor absence trigger levels in line with company policy and the Employee Handbook, highlighting cases requiring management action.
- Attend employee meetings where required, taking accurate notes and uploading records to the HR system.
- Scan and upload supporting documentation, including fit notes and medical evidence, to employee records.
- Make contact with employees who fail to attend work without notification ('no shows').
- Analyse absence trends and provide reports and recommendations to managers.
- Add SSP and statutory payments to payroll ahead of month end.
Employee Engagement & Wellbeing
- Support the planning and delivery of employee engagement activities, including staff social events, wellbeing days, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Assist in promoting a positive workplace culture and employee experience.
Payroll & Workforce Support
- Complete timesheet audits and work with managers to resolve discrepancies.
- Support workforce planning activities, including rota coordination and the collection of staff availability where required.
- Process payroll information, ensuring hours worked, holiday, sickness absence, and pay adjustments are accurately recorded.
General Administration
- Provide administrative support across the business as required.
- Assist departments with operational, marketing, office administration, or other business support activities during peak periods.
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- CIPD Level 3 qualification .
- Minimum of 3–5 years HR administration or HR coordination experience within a business of similar size and complexity.
- Good understanding of HR practices, employment law fundamentals, and people management processes.
- Experience using online HR systems and handling confidential employee information.
- Experience supporting recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Ability to work confidently with managers across multiple departments.
- Experience creating, implementing, and embedding new systems, processes, and ways of working within an organisation.
- Proven ability to review existing processes, identify improvements, and support change implementation to increase efficiency, compliance, and consistency.
- Experience supporting operational managers through process changes and ensuring successful adoption of new procedures.
Desirable
- CIPD Level 5 qualification.
- Experience in hospitality, leisure, retail, tourism, or other operationally focused environments.
- Experience supporting payroll administration.

Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive People Manager to support all aspects of the employee lifecycle across the business. This is a dynamic, hands-on role encompassing HR operations, recruitment, employee engagement, compliance, and people development.
The successful candidate will have the drive and ambition to support positive culture change, improve people processes, and enhance the employee experience. They will bring fresh ideas, challenge existing ways of working, and support managers in adopting best-practice people management approaches.
This role requires someone who is highly organised, resilient, and adaptable, with the energy and stamina to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, solutions-focused, and motivated by making a genuine impact on both people and the business.
Reporting To
The Financial Controller. This role acts as the organisation's lead people professional and first point of contact for all people-related matters.
Pay: £13,125.00-£15,000.00 per year
