Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a motivated Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic team. This role involves supporting the efficient movement, storage, and management of materials within our warehouse facility. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring smooth operations, maintaining safety standards, and upholding quality control throughout all warehouse activities. Prior warehouse experience is preferred, along with a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in materials handling, shipping and receiving, and warehouse management systems.

Responsibilities

Handling materials efficiently, including picking, packing, and stocking items to meet daily operational demands
Operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and effectively (training provided)
Managing shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods
Utilising warehouse management systems to track inventory levels, update records, and manage stock movements
Loading and unloading lorries with heavy or bulky items while adhering to health and safety guidelines
Conducting quality control checks to ensure products meet specified standards before dispatch
Assisting with mechanical maintenance or troubleshooting equipment when necessary
Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times

Requirements

Proven experience in warehouse operations or materials handling preferred
Ability to operate forklift trucks (certification is advantageous but not essential; training can be provided)
Familiarity with warehouse management systems or similar software applications
Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks throughout the shift
Mechanical knowledge or aptitude for understanding equipment functions is desirable
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in stock management and quality control processes
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced environment
