Work Location

Please note that this role offers flexibility in where you are based and how you work. You will work closely with teams at both Warwick and LSE. However, due to the nature of the position most of your duties requiring in person attendance will be in London. This includes an expectation to attend and run regular (at least twice a month) events at LSE, as well as spending some time at the University of Warwick to collaborate with colleagues. This will sometimes include working outside of standard working hours. This flexible, multi-site approach is an integral part of working within a joint research centre and provides the opportunity to engage with teams and stakeholders across both institutions.

The Centre for the Analysis of Taxation (CenTax) is a research centre dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding of taxation policies and practices. Led by Professor Arun Advani (Warwick) and Professor Andy Summers (LSE), research is undertaken to generate rigorous quantitative evidence on tax policies, develop targeted and feasible reforms, and communicate findings transparently to policy, media and civil society stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering the external profile of the Centre, working closely with the Directors, Policy Fellow, and Centre Manager, you will produce clear, engaging communications that showcase CenTax’s research and strengthen its reputation as a trusted voice in evidence-based tax policy.

Alongside communications, the role will take ownership of a varied and high-profile events programme, delivering seminars, workshops, conferences and roundtables for academic, policy and public audiences. You will manage events end-to-end – from planning and promotion through to delivery and evaluation—ensuring a professional and engaging experience for all participants. This will include coordinating a seminar series, supporting a major conferences, and delivering roundtables for senior policy stakeholders.

This role offers the chance to work at the intersection of research, policy and public engagement, supporting the Centre to maximise its impact and influence across government, media and civil society.

About You

You are a highly organised and proactive communications professional with a flair for translating complex ideas into clear, engaging content. Comfortable working across a range of formats and channels, you have excellent written English and a sharp eye for detail, with the confidence to edit, refine and quality-assure content to a high standard.

You bring experience of planning and delivering events for external audiences and thrive on managing multiple projects at once—balancing competing priorities while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.

You are equally confident working independently and collaborating with others. You have strong interpersonal skills and experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including academics, professional services colleagues, policymakers and external partners. You know how to tailor your approach to different audiences and build effective working relationships.

Digitally confident, you have experience managing websites (ideally using a CMS such as WordPress), running organisational social media accounts, and using analytics to monitor performance and improve impact. You are comfortable using tools such as Microsoft Office, Canva and email marketing platforms (e.g. MailChimp) to produce high-quality outputs. You will also be confident in leading comms changes and improvements as well as day to day operations.

A good understanding of the UK policy and media landscape is desirable, including how research feeds into public debate, and you are confident monitoring media activity, identifying emerging issues, and escalating where appropriate. Above all, you are motivated by the opportunity to support impactful, evidence-based research and to help ensure it reaches and influences the audiences that matter.
