Full job description

The Role

This is a senior leadership position for a hands-on Care Manager who can effectively "run the full show." You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the care service, manage care staff, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, ensure exceptional care delivery, and support business growth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care, staff performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership

Manage and oversee all day-to-day care operations.
Ensure care services are delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Lead, motivate, and support the care team to achieve excellent outcomes for clients.
Monitor service quality and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage on-call arrangements and provide operational support when required.

Care Quality & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and care standards.
Maintain readiness for inspections and audits.
Conduct regular quality assurance checks, care reviews, and service evaluations.
Investigate complaints, incidents, and safeguarding concerns, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date care records and documentation.

Staff Management

Recruit, train, supervise, and retain high-quality care staff.
Conduct inductions, performance reviews, supervision meetings, and competency assessments.
Develop staff training plans and ensure mandatory training compliance.
Manage staff performance, attendance, disciplinary matters, and employee development.

Client Care Management

Conduct client assessments and create person-centred care plans.
Review care packages regularly to ensure changing needs are met.
Build strong relationships with clients, families, healthcare professionals, and local authorities.
Ensure client satisfaction remains at the heart of service delivery.

Scheduling & Resource Management

Oversee care rotas and workforce planning.
Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet client needs.
Manage service capacity and coordinate new care package implementations.
Monitor efficiency, continuity of care, and staff utilisation.

Business Development & Growth

Support business growth through excellent service delivery and relationship management.
Develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare professionals, commissioners, and community organisations.
Identify opportunities to expand services and improve operational performance.
Contribute to achieving company targets and objectives.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience in a Care Manager, Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, or similar senior care leadership role.
Strong knowledge of domiciliary care/home care operations.
Excellent understanding of care regulations, safeguarding, and compliance requirements.
Proven experience managing and developing care teams.
Strong organisational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Desirable Qualifications

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or working towards).
Experience with CQC-regulated services.
Experience managing care software and electronic care planning systems.
Business development and service growth experience.
