Full job description

Make a Difference Every Day

WCB is seeking experienced Support Workers to join our dedicated team, providing vital support to children and young people experiencing crisis.

This is a highly rewarding role in which you will support young people affected by trauma, emotional distress, and behavioural challenges. You will help create a safe, stable, and supportive environment that empowers them to build confidence and move forward.

Key Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, hands-on support to children and young people in crisis
Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of every young person in your care
Respond calmly and effectively to challenging situations and behaviours
Build positive, consistent, and trusting relationships
Support daily routines, education, independence, and essential life skills
Maintain clear and accurate records
Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and progress reviews
Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals
Assist with everyday household tasks, including cooking and cleaning

Essential Requirements

A minimum of 12 months’ experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviours
A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
A calm, resilient, and compassionate approach
The ability to remain professional and effective under pressure
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including sleep-ins and waking nights
An Enhanced DBS certificate, or willingness to obtain one
The ability to provide a five-year employment history and references
Willingness to complete all required pre-employment training

Desirable

Full UK driving licence
