Maintenance Person / Handyperson

Carsington House, Guildford Road, Broadbridge Heath, Horsham, RH12 3PQ
Full-Time Permanent Position

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Maintenance Operative to join our team at Carsington House. This is a varied and hands-on role responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented environment for our residents, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and minor decorating tasks.
Undertake basic plumbing, electrical, joinery, and building maintenance work.
Maintain the exterior of the home, including grounds, pathways, signage, and outdoor areas.
Complete routine health & safety checks, including fire alarm testing and emergency lighting checks.
Monitor and maintain water temperatures and portable appliance testing records.
Ensure equipment, fixtures, and fittings are safe, clean, and in good working order.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and respond promptly to reported defects.
Liaise with contractors and supervise maintenance visits when required.
Support the Home Manager in ensuring the home remains safe, compliant, and well maintained.
Participate in emergency call-outs and provide support for urgent maintenance issues when required.

Essential Requirements

✔ Previous general maintenance experience

✔ Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, joinery, and property repairs

✔ Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

✔ Ability to work independently and use your own initiative

✔ Good communication and organisational skills

✔ Team player with a flexible and positive attitude

✔ Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable

Knowledge of central heating systems and hot/cold water systems.
Understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
Experience working within a care home, healthcare, or residential setting.
